Kontera sucks?

Say’s who?

I said so!

I have been using Kontera as part of my online monetization tools on one my high traffic blogs for quiet some time now and I am not at all happy with it! :-(

Despite the extraordinary high number of clicks that I got which was more than my average Google AdSense clicks, my earnings were simply pathetic! No matter how much I tried to fine tune it, it would not make any difference. Thus, I made the decision to yank out Kontera from one of my high traffic blogs yesterday.

I will however monitor any feedbacks and developments on Kontera discussed over at Forums Dot DigitalPoint Dot Com from time to time. If there’s any good news that I hear from some other people regarding Kontera, I would give them another shot in the future.

What about you readers out there? Are you making good money from Kontera lately?

Give me your thoughts on Kontera. I would love to hear them. If you guys really make money out of it, I would reconsider my decision.

Thanks!

I beg to differ. I've been using it for a year now and its performance is quite good. The conversion rates & payout is very good as well.

My problem with Kontera is not with payout, but with relevant ads. There are 2 frequent offender - shopping.com and the other one I forgot. Frequently I see their ads connected to words like "spam" that has absolutely no relevance to the word. I don't how the internal workings of Kontera, but I suspect shopping.com just use any random words to get their ads displayed. I have taken the trouble to write to them and they have pushed the responsibility back to me telling me of the possibility of filtering ads. I responded that they should not push the responsibility back to publishers, but try to do something about it, otherwise users may get put off at getting irrelevant ads and opt out. I think if shopping.com is doing what I suspect is doing, they should send out a message to shopping.com plus all their advertisers that they should take care to chose relevant keywords to get their ads displayed.

Hello,

I'm from Kontera and I'd to look further into what you're presenting.
There's one thing that should be considered in advance, sites with traffic from outside the U.S earn lower cpc than sites with traffic from the U.S. This has to do with the fact that most of the merchants and companies who work with us reside in the U.S.
Other than that it should be a matter we can solve easily. Please send the Address of the mentioned blog to mika@kontera.com
I will be in touch,

In my experience, Kontera is one the worst of the partners we’ve ever had. Right now they are tanking with pay outs down over 60% this year. They have very poor targeting. They ran Ford truck ads on our movie site that upset our readers. On top of that they are short on inventory and even if you have the traffic they cannot pay for it. We found them to be pretty sneaky. When we threatened to leave about the above problems, they scrambled to give us a better rev share, but they shorted us on inventory. We got paid less than before on more traffic. Finally when we demanded they let us out of agreement for the reasons above, they refused and will not send our final payments.

Do yourself a favor. Sign up with Chitika or Vibrant Media. You’ll get a good rate, targeted ads your readers appreciate and as much inventory as you can sell.
