Barack Obama: The Internet Grandmaster

San Francisco’s Web Summit 2.0 talked about Barack Obama earlier today and one of the panelists said that the Internet paved the way to the White House for Barack Obama. I don’t know whether or not they were jealous or happy with the fact that the Internet has helped Americans get to know their new President better but it would be wrong to deny his hard earned victory.

Yes, Obama is everywhere in the Internet. Not only Americans but also people from other parts of the world have seen his videos, read blogs that supported and banged him and of course read tweets that sang praises and hurled racist remarks at him. Frankly, it does seem as if the World Wide Web was all about Barack Obama in the last few weeks! Amazing!

So what? What’s wrong with having a leader that is internet savvy? Are you folks saying that the Internet is only for geeks and nerds? :-)

Believe me, you Americans are very lucky. Here in Malaysia, politics is very much confined to our government-controlled mainstream media. Politicians from the ruling government keep themselves away from the Internet. They’re afraid of answering questions and hearing opinions!

Just be thankful that your new President is an Internet geek himself. :-)
