Blogger going Social with their new Following feature

Some bloggers on Blogger blogs may have noticed that they have a new feature on their Blogger dashboards. I’m referring to the new Following feature that is getting much attention from bloggers on Blogger.

I can’t really comment much about it since it is still not there in my Blogger dashboard (Blogger Buzz said; ‘The Following feature will be rolled out to all over the next few weeks, so if you don’t see it right away, don’t worry.’) but I think the new Following feature is pretty cool. All I can say right now is that the whole thing sounds a little bit like Twitter, Jaiku and Tumblr.

It is a good sign; a sign that indicates bigger things is in the offing for Blogger blogs. Frankly speaking, Blogger should have done this sooner. Now that they are going social, Blogger should provide more social networking features in the near future. It’s about time that Blogger shows WordPress and Microsoft (Windows Live Spaces) that Blogger can think big too. :-)

Before I go, I would like to say something to Temi who left some comments about Blogger at TechCrunch earlier today. Let me just quote one line for you folks here today. Temi said; ‘Blogger is like 90% restricted compared to wordpress.’

Blogger restricted? That’s nonsense. There are very few restrictions but we do have many limitations because Blogger didn’t provide the solutions for us. But that doesn’t mean that we cannot do wonderful things with Blogger blogs. If you are good at hacking, you can easily create cool functions or features on Blogger blogs. I have done a few and you can see the results here on this blog. :-)
