Wolfram|Alpha is just a big Calculator, not Google Killer

Do you know that Wolfram|Alpha is great as an online calculator? It’s nowhere near Google but Wolfram|Alpha sure can solve your math problems. :)

Yes, the much touted Google Killer has gone live but it has disappoints a lot of people including me. :(

Despite having a bad cold, I spent a good 30 minutes with Wolfram|Alpha just now and the experience left me wondering why the new search engine could not provide search results for simple questions such as ‘remedy for the common cold’ and ‘h1n1 symptoms’.

On the other hand, Wolfram|Alpha handles mathematical queries pretty well.

I guess those behind Wolfram|Alpha has defined their new search engine correctly. Wolfram|Alpha is indeed a ‘computational knowledge engine’. It can only compute stuffs that allow computations. It’s no search engine (not yet at least), more like a big advanced calculator that should fancy number-crunchers such as statistical analysts, scientists and mathematicians.

By the way, where is that Wolfram|Alpha toolbar? I saw their screenshots last week but where’s the download link now that it has gone live?
