Apple’s greatest nightmare: MySpace Music hits 1 billion!

I have bad news for cynics and naysayers of MySpace Music and suckers of Apple’s iTunes. I’m afraid MySpace Music has hit an incredible milestone recently; MySpace Music has streamed their 1 billionth song just couples of days after its official launch on September 25th 2008!

Here’s the official statement from MySpace:
…We can confirm that we hit a milestone of one billion music streams in only a few days after launching the new product however because this number may be inflated by the high profile launch and accompanying promotional push…

Check this out, iTunes took about 3 years to hit 1 billion. However, we have to bear in mind that there is a slight difference between iTunes and MySpace Music. People have to pay for downloads at iTunes while MySpace Music streams music (garbage, most of them) for free.

Well, it sure looks like as if MySpace is much smarter than Apple! Ho! Ho! Ho! :-)
