BumpTop: 3D Desktop

BumpTop has been around for a very long time but I was really surprised when I found out that it is still in Private Beta! I discovered that after visiting BumpTop earlier today.

BumpTop is really cool. I don’t know how they do it but those folks over at BumpTop have developed an amazing desktop interface that will turn your dull-looking desktop into a dazzling 3D-looking masterpiece!
BumpTop is a fresh and engaging new way to interact with your computer desktop. You can pile and toss documents like on a real desk. Break free from the rigid and mechanical style of standard point-and-click desktops. Interact by pushing, pulling and piling documents with elegant, self revealing gestures. BumpTop's stunning interface makes clever use of 3D presentation and smooth physics-based animations for an engaging, vivid user experience.

I can understand why some folks find it hard to imagine how BumpTop’s 3D desktops really look like. Perhaps the following video can give you folks a better picture.

If the above video failed to do the job, take a look at the following photos (screenshots of BumpTop’s 3D desktops) then.

Come on; have some fun playing around with your own 3D desktop. Sign up for a Beta invite today and wait for the invitation.
