Sony X-series Walkman: iPod killer?

Do you know that the new Sony X-series Walkman player has been dubbed as the iPod killer? Delicious video (Japanese unfortunately) included.

Sony X-series Walkman: iPod killer?

Not much of a music fan but that’s what some tech geeks and audiophiles are raving about right now. It is an interesting thought; Sony X-series Walkman, the iPod killer. Let’s see what’s under the hood first.

Sony X-series Walkman player specifications

  • Stylish and cord-free
  • 3” OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) touch screen
  • Can play videos and music in various formats (MP3, AAC, WMA, Linear PCM, MP4 etc)
  • Has built-in Wi-Fi
  • Extra long battery life (up to 30 hours of music or 8 hours of video)
  • Has built-in noise canceling feature (thanks to Sony’s Digital Noise Canceling and Digital Sound Enhancement Engine)
  • 16GB (NWZ- X1051)/32GB (NWZ- X1061) of storage

Not bad, huh!?

Good for Sony, bad news for Apple but I have doubts that it would be the iPod killer. Apple geeks are a bunch of stubborn folks, ever willing to hand over their hard earned money to Apple even though it could lead them to bankruptcy. :)
