Ovi Maps Beta, great new mobile mapping toy from Nokia
When Nokia introduced Nokia N97 mini a few days ago, a few other new features were also introduced at the very same time. I have covered one of them (check out Lifecasting with Ovi) and today let’s take a look at Ovi Maps Beta, a brand new mobile mapping toy that as of time of writing would only work on Nokia N97, N97 mini, 5800 Navigation Edition and 5800 Xpress Music.
Based from what I have read from Nokia Beta Labs, Ovi Maps Beta has several new features that gave several great enhancements to the old Ovi Maps. Among them:
- Faster application startup
- Brand new user friendly menu
- Better search capability
- New ‘Drive Home’ and ‘Track Me’ features in the car navigation tool
- Text-to-speech voice guidance (great for drivers)
Note:
I must say that so far Nokia has made me totally speechless. Their new Lifecasting with Ovi widget and now their new Ovi Maps Beta are simply awesome. Too bad we can only use them on certain very expensive Nokia smartphones. :(
