I’m still crunching all the details but here’s what I have right now:
  • Comes with new generation of Exmor CMOS sensors, giving a550 impressive 14.2-megapixel and a500 12.3-megapixel resolutions
  • Also comes with BIONZ image processors with color-noise reduction (ISO 12800)
  • Sony said that a550 is the first below-1k (read US dollars) DSLR camera that has 7-frames per second shooting speed
  • The first Sony DSLR cameras to have in-camera High Dynamic Range (HDR) feature that can process highlights and shadows in 2 seconds
  • Both a550 and a500 DSLR cameras have one 3” LCD screen each
  • A550 (model DSLR-A550) will retail at US$950 and a500 (model DSLR-A500) at US$750

Here’s the bad news. Both a550 and a500 DSLR cameras cannot shoot videos! WTF!?

Other than the above bad news, Sony a550 and a500 do have more goodies, you just have to read the rest of their awesomeness from Sony’s Press Room.
