Technorati’s State of the Blogosphere 2008

Heads up! Technorati will release their State of the Blogosphere 2008 report in the next 5 days starting today. As for today, Technorati gave their best to answer the enigmatic question; ‘Who are the bloggers?’

Interesting Facts on Day 1: Who are the bloggers?
  • Blogs have gone mainstream, no longer under the shadows of corporate and other well known sites.
  • Technorati’s new definition of Active Blogosphere; ‘The ecosystem of interconnected communities of bloggers and readers at the convergence of journalism and conversation.’
  • Technorati have indexed more than 133 million blogs ever since 2002.
  • Technorati found that bloggers posted 900,000 posts in 24 hours.

Delicious ‘dollar sign’ Facts on Day 1: Who are the bloggers?

Majority of bloggers that took part in Technorati’s survey have advertising on their blogs. In another word, making money from blogs is common and pretty much acceptable even though there are some jerks out there who think otherwise. Wise up, people!

Now, here’s the delicious part.

Those have advertising invested an average of $1,800 annually per blog. Their average annual income or revenue from advertising is $6,000 while those lucky enough to have more than 100,000 unique visitors per month earned a handsome $75k on average annually!

Incredible! But I’m still skeptical. I still believe that people can make more money from Internet Marketing than blogging. I’m doing both at the moment and I can see from my own side that Internet Marketing made more money for me. :-)
