Web hosting: How to choose a good web host?

Web Hosting, Web Host, Service Providers, Tips, Pointers

Do you really know how to choose a good web host for your sites or blogs?

I have a few online stores hosted on a well known web hosting service provider and I thought that I already knew all about web hosting and how to select the right one for me. The following video from CNET however made me realize that we need to do a lot more homework before choosing the best web host for our sites or blogs.

How To Choose A Good Web Host

Let me summarize what have been said in the above video:
  1. Web hosting should not be too cheap or too expensive. If it sounds too good to be true or too ridiculous for you, go for some other reasonable options.
  2. Make sure that you read and reread web hosting contracts before committing.
  3. Visit hosted sites (some web hosting service providers do provide links of sites that they have hosted) and get a feel of their web hosting services.
  4. Visit top sites or those that you love and find out more about their web hosting service providers.
  5. Ask for referrals or recommendations from people you trust.

The rest of the tips given by CNET are pretty common. Just in case you have never heard of them; you must compare storage, bandwidth, OS support, technical support and of course uptime offered by web hosting service providers before choosing the best for your sites or blogs.

CNET, I love you folks. Thanks for the great tips!
