Sony Ericsson introduces XPERIA X10 (no more X3) and announcement confirms the birth of the ultimate iPhone-killer!

The day that I have been waiting for is finally here! Yes, Sony Ericsson has officially introduced their new smartphone where many have described it as the ultimate iPhone-killer (for the year 2009)! Take a look at Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (no more X3), possibly the coolest and sexiest smartphone in the world today! :)

Sony Ericsson describes XPERIA X10 as their flagship phone and there will be more phones coming your way, so keep your eyes open for more iPhone-killers from Sony Ericsson next year (first-half of 2010). Sony Ericsson also proudly announced that their new smartphone features a new UX (user experience) platform and here’s how they describe their new UX and XPERIA X10 smartphone:
“…New UX (user experience) platform lets consumers organise everything and discover more with the most open, human and intuitive user experience yet…”

“…XPERIA X10 is the first mobile phone to truly humanise the way people interact with their phones…”

From the way I look at it, Sony Ericsson is heavily banking upon the success and acceptance of their new UX platform and signature applications; especially Sony Ericsson Timescape and Sony Ericsson Mediascape and I think they will get their money’s worth soon. You’ll see what I mean afterwards.

Social media geeks will definitely love Sony Ericsson Timescape; it allows users to manage their communication needs (includes Facebook, Twitter, emails, photos, short messages etc) all in one place. Sony Ericsson Mediascape on the other hand, should smite the hearts of YouTube and Flickr users. Sony Ericsson Mediascape will give them access to everything they love (photos, videos, music from YouTube, PlayNow etc) all in one place too.

Wow! Wow! Wow! XPERIA X10 sure has lots of Wow factors and this is just the tip of the iceberg but I’m already convinced that Sony Ericsson truly has the ultimate iPhone-killer here! I have more for you but I need to take a little break and publish whatever I have right now. I will update this post with more juicy details in the next few hours.

Updated on November 3rd 2009 11:00 PM:

Let’s see what lies under the hood but I’m not going to list everything. I will just mention those that make the new XPERIA X10 smartphone different than the rest:
  • Supports GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 900/1700/2100 and UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900/2100
  • Powered by a powerful 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor
  • Runs on Android (Donut) 1.6 (Motorola DROID runs on Android 2.0)
  • Has a scratch-resistant 4” 262,144 colour TFT touchscreen (eat this, Apple & Nokia!)
  • Has an 8.1-megapixel camera, complete with auto focus, 16x digital zoom, face recognition, smile detection and geo tagging (eat this too, Apple & Nokia!)
  • Comes with A-GPS, Google Maps and Wisepilot
  • Supports USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Micro USB connectivity
  • Super light, weighing only 135 grams
  • Available in Sensuous Black and Luster White

Whatever I’ve seen and heard about XPERIA 10 so far sounds very promising, worthy of being crowned as the ultimate iPhone-killer. It is crystal clear that XPERIA X10 is way better than Nokia N900 and iPhone 3G S but we have to wait for the official launch of Motorola DROID to see who the clear winner is.

Go Sony Ericsson! (I’m a Nokia freak but Sony Ericsson is a close second) :)
